Airport Restoration Project
Improving Sky Bryce
To keep aviation alive in this special place, Sky Bryce Airport needs your help! Sky Bryce is a private airfield (VG18) with many interesting and fun activities in the surrounding area. We are collaborating with several organizations to raise money for paving, marking, and making overall improvements to our airport environment.

About
Our Story
The first runway at Bryce was dirt, way back in 1966. Pete Bryce, founder of Bryce Resort, built it to attract regional pilots to his new ski resort, which had just opened the year before. Pete was an avid pilot himself and owned many planes over his lifetime. He is often remembered for his buzzing expeditions around Basye in his Lockheed 12A. In 1970, Sky Bryce Airport opened a flight school, Owen Aviation. Over the next two decades, people of all ages obtained pilot's licenses here. Some of the students were former military pilots who were able to work toward their commercial licenses here through the GI Bill.

Our Goals
Restore and Improve
We are collaborating with several organizations to raise money for paving, marking, and making overall improvements to our airport environment. We need your help to preserve and improve this special destination. The airport is a perfect Shenandoah Destination for a day trip (or longer) to Bryce Resort, which is located just across the road from the runway. Pilots and their families can enjoy activities like skiing, snow-tubing, mountain biking, and golf. Sky Bryce is also close to other airports in the five surrounding counties and other western VA locations. Your generosity will help to keep Sky Bryce a great fly-in destination.
